Curriculum and Instruction Overview

At Rock Creek Community Academy, we take pride in offering an exceptional educational experience for our students. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded education that prepares students for success in both college and their future careers. We adhere to the Indiana Academic Standards for grades K-12 and collaborate with a variety of top-tier educational programs, including IXL, Edmentum, eDynamics, and Core Knowledge Language Arts, among others.

Our elementary classes use Core Knowledge Language Arts as their primary curriculum for both language arts and history. Through this program, students develop a broad range of skills and knowledge across various domains.

Mathematics

For math, students in grades K-4 engage with the Bridges program, a hands-on curriculum that utilizes manipulatives to help students grasp essential mathematical concepts.

Beginning in grade 5 and continuing through grade 12, we adopt Savvas Pearson as our core math curriculum.

Language Arts

For language arts in grades 6-12, we incorporate a combination of programs aligned with state standards, ensuring our students develop a diverse set of skills—such as speaking, writing, reading comprehension, and presentation skills—necessary for success in both academics and beyond.

Remedial Programs Offered

Teachers at Rock Creek Community Academy are available each school day until 3:30 p.m. to provide additional academic support for students who require targeted intervention or enrichment. Students identified through universal screening, classroom assessments, progress-monitoring data, teacher observations, or state assessment results may receive additional support through small-group instruction, reading remediation, one-on-one intervention, and after-school academic assistance.

Students in grades 2-4 who do not meet proficiency expectations on IREAD may be provided additional literacy instruction through Summer School and other targeted intervention opportunities designed to address identified skill deficits.

In addition, classroom teachers, the Reading Specialist, and Reading Interventionists collaborate throughout the school year to provide timely support for students demonstrating academic need. Interventions are tailored to individual student data and may focus on phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills.

All students in grades K-8 participate in weekly Response to Intervention (RTI) time. During RTI, students receive differentiated instruction, intervention, remediation, or enrichment based on current assessment data and demonstrated learning needs. This structured support ensures that all learners receive appropriate instruction to promote continuous academic growth and literacy achievement.
